What I have learned from having a baby

I decided to keep a list of the things I have learned from having a baby (two years ago) and wanted to share it with others! ENJOY!

* Nothing is yours anymore. Those tiny fingers and toes think the world is ALL for them!

* Never been hurt quite so much in my life. (and no I am not talking about natural childbirth, with no drugs) Kids push, stomp, pull, grab, smack and don't really mean to, but nonetheless it hurts!! It hurts so bad that you wanna do the action right back to them, but don't because you love them so much!

*Putting a size bigger diaper on a baby at night is the BEST for no diaper leaks!

*Teaching sign language early is great but can lead to the child not saying the words he or she signs.

*There isn't anything a little A&D can't fix!

*All the "wiser" people at the grocery LOVE to talk and play with your baby...this is great, but makes for a VERY long grovery outing!

*Babies make the amount of stuff you own TRIPLE!! (clothes, diapers, toys, bedding, etc)

*Babies take in a lot more than what most people give them credit for. Never underestimate what a child hears, says and can remember!

*No one has ever made my temper go from o to 160 like him, but no one could ever make me love me as much as he does!

*Not all kids love to ride in the car!

*Not all kids love to eat!

*Nap time is ESSENTIAL, and why I'm on it, SCHEDULES are essential. Sorry all you people who disagree but this is a MUST in our house!

*I may be a thrify SAHM but video monitors (as costly as they are) are the BEST baby item out there.

*No one, not even daddy, quite does it like MOMMY!

This is all for now..until next time!

Two and counting

We began the day playing outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. Davis LOVES the outdoors and can't get enough outdoor playtime. He mows, runs, jumps, sings, screams, smiles, laughes and chases till he drops.

Gotta love family fun! Pops, Mia, Mommy and daddy are so much FUN!

Present Time! From trucks, to tickets to the tractor and truck pull, to remote control cars to a tickle monster, Davis had a very blessed birthday. He is loved so much his neighbors walked over and gave him presents...he has everyone wrapped around his BIG fingers! HAHA!

PIZZA and CAKE TIME! Davis ate so much pizza at his party! I guess being two makes you super hungry. He kept saying "new pizza momma." He was so impressed with his cake he just wanted to play with the trucks and wasn't really worried about eating any of it. Thanks Mimi for finding the perfect cake for this two year old!

We are so blessed to have such wonderful family. Davis is EXTREMELY loved and definitely enjoys being the star of the show. He is still the ONLY grandchild on EITHER side of the family and loving every minute of it! We are all soaking in this Davis time in our lives and not gonna take it for granted. You are only two once, right? Lala (Aunt Lane) made truck cards where everyone wrote 3 reasons why they love Davis. Although he can't read them now I know he will appreciate them soon. We also sat around and reminisced about Davis' entrance into our lives and how much he/we have changed since his arrival. I had his two year old book, scrapbook and baby book out so we could see how much he had changed in such a short time. We have had a terrific birthday week and just have to spend some time putting up all the FUN toys he received. Just a couple videos to show off some of our fun times. A birthday song for the special birthday boy and some of the most hilaroius footage of Davis not understanding why the blue truck keeps getting in his way!

MOVIE time

WE had a great adventure tonight..we took Davis to his first movie! We watched HOP and he did amazing. The movie was packed and we ended up all having to sit in seats not beside one another. (not ideal since it was D's first experience) Oh I forgot to mention the owners of the theater go to the same church with us and are too sweet. They only play g and pg movies!!! They let Davis in for free and even game him a free water bottle! He sat with me for most of the movie, but also tried out his daddy's lap (who was behind me) for part of the show. He kept saying "bunny rabbit drumming." He was so proud of himself for sitting through the movie and it helped the gang (mia, pops, laura, nick and mom and dad) gave him a round of applause after the show for being such a good boy! Oh yeah to top off our movie experience, we also witnessed a full knock down drag out over seats between two women...this is when owning a theater would not be fun! All in all we had a great time and saw a really cute movie. Stay tuned for our next movie adventure!

DAVIS IS TWO

In two short years Davis has changed us FOREVER! It's hard to imagine he started in here... and then came out at almost 10lbs!
and only a year later...
and just look how much a year can change YOU!
Davis Walker Dow Wellington you complete us!

Davis, Enjoying every minute God gives us another day as a family. God gave us such a spunky, lively, dramatic, loving, sweet little boy. You are growing up so fast, but you will always be my little boy! Loving life with YOU and blessed to spend my days with YOU! May not have all the newest toys, or lots of money, but my place is here with you my friend. You are teaching me so much and I don't want to rush our precious time together! love MOMMY We started the morning off right with some birthday pancakes and a couple presents! A shape sorter (Davis loves shapes and can name all of them!) and a bin full of animals. After sorting the shapes several times, he dug in to the animals. He loved talking about which one was the momma/daddy/baby. After he named them all he packed them up and wanted to take them to baby Charlotte-my sweet boy!

Next we headed to Chuckie Cheese. It was just a davis and mommy experience and we enjoyed ourselves. We got to get all the extra tickets for being the first ones there and D decided to cash in some of his tickets for a balloon and cotton candy. He loved the balloon, but wouldn't try the candy!

After Chuckie Cheese we decided to grab some much needed groceries. Getting groceries has turned into a whole new adventure lately. Not only did Davis name people he saw, men, women and women whom he called men, but he also found a few grannies. So glad the wiser women enjoyed their name and loved on him anyway. When it was time to check out D decided he needed my credit card. MISTAKE! He played with it so well he stuck it in the coupon holder which they no longer use! I explained to the sweet cashier what he did and she called someone over to help. The lady explained they no longer had keys to the opening because they don't use them anymore. AHHH, you've got to be kidding me! I asked them to call the manager to see if he had any ideas. He decided to break into it (I think he could tell I was a bit on edge), but before he could begin the break in a man walked up who was installing new scanners. He quickly showed them how to open in up and get inside the box. VICTORY! SO I got my card back and they didn't have to break their equipment. They all laughed when I told them it was D's b-day and me I couldn't get mad I needed to just laugh! D and I talked about it all the way home. He kept telling me "card in hole," "mommy funny!" Oh well, it is his birthday right? Davis is growing and changing as any typical two year old. He is mr independant, mr picky and mr i dare you to not play with me! He adores his family and loves to play trucks. He loves to entertain and loves talking about how funny and how big of a mess he is. For example, yesterday while I was unpacking the car Davis came up to me and said "momma dirt" and showed me his hand. I shrieked to myself because he was covered in poop. Literally from his head to his shoes. He is on another antibiotic and we got the side effects to go along with it! I quickly explained to him it was poop and we would clean him up, but he was adamant that ho it was dirt and not poop! He dropped it as soon as I told him he could have a bath and he was content! He continues to blow my mind with his memory-never forgets a thing and knows where people live and doesn't forget when they are coming to see him-he will wake up from a nap and say "mimi here!" if I have told him she is coming when he wakes up! He is a bit shy to strangers, however some times he will surprise me and really hit it off with people in public places. He is very honest and will tell you if he did something wrong-totally told the childcare worker he knocked a toddler down. He is very sweet-totally picked up the toddler and said sorry! He is also very polite he tells people please and thank you-the gym workers tell me his manners are the BEST! He is having moments of the terrible twos though, will fuss like a baby, choose one thing but want another, and be just down right whiny-sound like anyone? haha! We are gonna embrace the twos and enjoy every minute of this year! Happy birthday Davis Walker Dow Wellington!

Crazy L-ville days

Where to begin...Well we left Milan Thursday evening and headed straight to L-ville. Friday am WAlker, Nick and Dad headed to get the moving trucks while me, Davis and Laura headed to the pediatrician. Davis ended up with another ear infection (actually the same one we've had for 2 months) and then found out his left tube is in his ear canal and we need to see another ENT asap. The boys came home with a story too...they only had one of the two trucks we needed. After working some magic Walker came home with another truck. Whew! We spent the next 4 hours packing the two trucks very carefully so that we could get all of our stuff not only back to Milan but in one piece. Not a fun task. Laura was wonderful, she kept Davis occupied so the rest of us could pack, pack pack! My fabulous neighbor came over and she helped tackle the task too! We got most of the stuff in the trucks along with packing my truck and dad's truck to the brim and we headed to grab a bite to eat. I made a quick stop at the drug store to get D's antibiotic and it was only, wait for it...400! Luckily my awesome insurance and coupon covered all but 25 dollars of it! Again, WHEW! The moving truck crew headed south and the rest of us headed to Indiana. The following 6 days flew by and we had a lovely time. Pops and Davis enjoying a coke icee....notice all the blue straws!

Bath time at mia's house is so much more fun! Davis turned on the charm at mia's until...he squirted her with his frog toy. He thought he was so funny!

Mia made Davis a scooper 2 shirt..he had to wear it! They also made the cutest cookies. Think they had fun?

Davis' sweet L-ville buddies got together for some Davis time. He sure does miss all his friends!

Sweet boy took a fantastic nap on our trip home, mommy was so jealous!
We're home! Davis wanted and missed his daddy so much. Enjoying a sucker together!

Davis is a splishing and a splashing. (more splashing than splishing)

We ended the week with sweet baby Charlotte's heart surgery. She did amazing and handled it like a champ. Wish us adults could say the same. It was so hard seeing my cousin so upset, she is like my sister, and seeing her hurt broke my heart. Praying for a speedy recovery and people to wrap their arms around Erin, Dave and their parents through the following days ahead! Hug those you love! We love you baby C! Davis was very concerned about her today. He spent the day saying "baby Charlotte (yes he calls her charlotte now!) sick. " He thought he needed to see her so bad, but momma thought it was best to just love on his frannie and uncle dave. I think they appreciate his love!
